Joel Anderson graduated in 2007 with a degree in Philosophy from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. He obtained his law degree in 2011 from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota and is licensed to practice law in the state of Minnesota.

Between his time at Wheaton and William Mitchell, Joel worked as a class action clerk at an employment law firm in Minneapolis where he managed communications between the attorneys and their hundreds of clients. During law school, he gained experience in immigration law at the William Mitchell Immigration Law Clinic. As a certified student attorney he represented indigent clients with their immigration matters, appearing in immigration court and drafting applications for U nonimmigrant status and I-601 waivers of inadmissibility.

Since being admitted to the Minnesota bar, Joel has solely focused on immigration law matters including family-based immigrant visa petitions and applications to adjust status to permanent resident, applications for naturalization, applications for deferred action for childhood arrivals and U visas. He is also conversational in the Spanish language.

Joel is a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where he volunteers in the Media Ministries department. In his free time, he enjoys anything related to technology and plays volleyball, broomball, tennis, and soccer whenever he gets the chance.
